Pinning Ceremony for Museum’s New Pathfinders

The museum’s new Pathfinders received their Pathfinder pins from museum curator Emmett Casciato at the WNC Military History Museum on August 17.
Attending training to become guides at the museum, these volunteers learned basic procedures for operating the reception area, accepting payments for the items visitors can purchase (Honor Wall plaques, Allies memberships, museum t-shirts, books, military bracelets, and toys), and hosting museum guests.

This was the first of four classes scheduled this year to train Pathfinders (named for the paratroops who jumped out of airplanes into Normandy on D-Day). In three additional classes in September, October, and November, these new Pathfinders will learn about the artifacts displayed in the museum, in order to help guests learn history and enjoy all the museum has to offer. These classes will include the artifacts and history of WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the
War on Terror.
 
Newly-pinned Pathfinders join experienced Pathfinders (some of whom have served the museum for more than a year): Jim Bohn, Tom Bugala, Phil Davis, Richard Donoghue, Roseann Dorsch, John Flynn, Mike Kuhne, David Morrow, Ray Norris, Curtiss Poteat, and Harold Wellington.
