Wilkerson then joined Continental Airlines as a pilot, retiring as a Captain in 2003. He said, “When I was in high school, all I wanted to do was fly airplanes.” His program will include slides and descriptions of the most important aircraft used in the D-Day invasion of Normandy, as well as descriptions of the aircraft he has flown during his 29-year military career. Some of the D-Day aircraft you’ll learn about are: B-17 and B-24 Bombers, P-38, P-47, P-51 and British Typhoon Fighters, C-47 Dakota Transport, and troop glider Waco CG4A.
